Those of you born under a lucky star will be able to buy one of these lil beauts at the UK Web & Mini Comics Thing this Saturday! It is my first ever limited edition print!

Meet me in the Red Room

This is an illustration I did for my new promotional postcard :)

We interrupt our regularly scheduled program...

Hot Topic is currently selling a t-shirt that is a BLATANT rip off of one of Jess Fink's designs. This sort of thing seems to be rampant nowadays, but we should still support artists when we have the opportunity.

Fat Chunk

I'm am VERY excited to be included in the upcoming Fat Chunk anthology, published by Slave Labor Graphics. Here's a preview of my two page comic :) I'll update with details as they become available!

50th post! How bout some Lord of the Rings?

Hello all! I was lucky enough to do some Artist Sketch Cards for Topps's Lord of the Rings Masterpiece II series. Here are some of my favorites...

Happy Holidays, Internet!!

Wonder Woman!

My entry for Project Rooftop/Zeus Comics' Wonder Woman Wardrobe War!

Radio Head

Trying to make my portraits less boring. I...I wanna be an illustrator, guys!!!

TV Ladies

Working with a different style here! America's favorite anthropologist and cheerleader!

I'm just talkin' about McNinja!

It's Doctor McNinja time again! This time I'm painting the cover for the second book, which will be a print version of the two-part 80's action film homage "D.A.R.E. To Resist Ninja Drugs and Ninja Violence".

Obviously I'm going for those really great 80's/early 90's movie posters. I'm looking at a lot of Bob Peak...he has some really lovely color choices. I wish they still painted movie posters like this...anyway!

This lovely lady on my left was my first concept. Chris and I both liked this one, but he wanted to see what else I could come up with, so I did the following image.

While Chris liked the composition on this one, he didn't want two Dr. McNinjas on the cover, so we scrapped it. Which is a shame because look how cute little chubby Ben Franklin looks!!

Which brings us to this little number! Same basic color scheme as the first version, only a warmer background, and MORE EXPLOSIONS! Ultimately this has a much stronger "I'm an action movie with muscles!" vibe, so it's the logical choice.

I want to try to go for a less photorealistic approach with this one, so I'll be posting my progress to see what you guys think!

Wish me luck ;)

It's-a me!

I haven't done a self portrait since I can remember...definitely at some point during college. So I've decided to paint one!

It's kind of interesting to explore your own face that way. You see all the little flaws and imperfections (which are actually my favorite part!) Anyway, without further ado, here's a sneak peak...there's more to come :D

Red-head

I'm back! This is a design for an upcoming mystery guest comic. Isn't she cute? DON'T YOU JUST LOVE HER PRETTY DRESS?????

:D

Meredith Grey

The painting is done! Say hello to narrator extraordinaire Meredith Grey from TV's Grey's Anatomy.

Thanks to Dr. McBoyfriend for the helpful critiques :D

Carly paints again!

A new work in progress!! You know, I think I'm done with the super smooth and totally rendered paintings for the time being. There's nowhere you can go from that! They just sort of become dead to me. With something like this, though, there's still a feeling of energy. Plus it is obviously a painting. It's not trying to be a photograph or anything.

So unless a client comes along and requests otherwise (that's right, ladies and gents, I take commissions, weenk weenk!) this will be my way of painting! Oh, and here's the original sketch, for posterity.

Big internet happ'nins!

FIRST! Lasagna Children has a new design and it is up and running!!

SECOND! My Scary Go Round guest strip ran yesterday!

THIRD! Baby Dracula shirts are now up for sale on Dr. McNinja.com! (They will also be available at MoCCA, with any luck. More on that later!)

LIFE METER!

Here's a sneak preview of a Legends of Zelda comic that Chris and I did for the upcoming Life Meter! It will be available at MoCCA, so be sure to grab a copy!

Happy Birthdavid!

Man, people keep havin' dem birthdays! This time it's David McGuire! Happy 30th, buddy!!

Two, two, two posts in one!

FIRST! Here's a little diddy I sung up whilst eagerly awaiting my twin's return from D.C. It's a bit of an inside joke, but still enjoyable to others, I hope!

SECOND! Here's a shot from my much-delayed Dr. McNinja Guestravaganza conclusion. A big "oops" and "sorry!" to all the Dr. McNinja fans who had to wait for this. I wish I could say that the ending was TOTALLY meant to be all suspenseful and stuff, but the truth is that I was super busy with work.
Anyhooby, the page should be up tonight, and hopefully you will all enjoy it :}

EDIT: IT IS UP! :D

Guest comic...HOOOOOO!

Page one of my guest comic for Dr. McNinja is up now! Check it out! :D

McNinja time!!

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!

The Dr. McNinja Poster is finally finished :) Check it out, and please buy one!!! (Or two! OR THREE!)

I'll post a more in-depth description and some detail shots later :D

D'awww

Supergirl!

For the meme started by the ever-talented Dean Trippe!

More birthin'!

Another Birthday! This time it was the lovely Rachel Simon! (Actually, her birthday is tomorrow, but I wanted to try being early for a change!)

So heeeeere's She-ra! (I hope to post the finished Siobhan pic later)

Hands!

Also part of the poster in progress for Doctor McNinja. I think it should be okay to post these. Lately I've found that painting hands might be the most difficult, yet satisfying part of painting people. (If you're curious as to which bit I find the most difficult and least satisfying, I think the answer is ears. Really!)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to friend Siobhan! This drawing is not finished yet...

Okay! So now Shivers is in color! It still isn't done, though. There's one more part! Also, I'm tooling around with the outline color. I may have to make it darker again.

Good Grief, Carly Brown!

Stuff Sucks

Imogen from Liz Greenfield's comic Stuff Sucks!

Homesick

"So pure!"

I've been keeping this super secret, but since Dr. Hastings himself has started previewing this I think it's safe for me to repost! I've been charged with the awesome task of painting the very first official Dr. McNinja poster!!! Here's the very official preview of McNinja patriarch, Dan.

Also of note is that there's a new forum up at the Dr.McNinja site. Should be good times!

Also also of note, I had a piece of banana cake for breffist!

Le Boyfriend

Speed painting last night! Just a little exercise :}

Batgirl!

I've never been a huge fan of the character, honestly. But for some reason, Batgirl is just so much fun to draw!

Journal Comic? Eh?

So I decided I was going to start a journal comic...and then never updated again! I need to get crackin'!

Workplace shenannigans

A bit of an inside joke between Siobhan and I. See, we were making fun of the band Mew when we saw them open for Kasabian last week at Webster Hall. And here I am listening to them! Ha ha ha! How embarassing! My goodness!

Elijah

Those Betty Davis eyes...

I notice that there's this facial type in men that I find very intriguing. Mostly it has to do with the eyes. Take Elijah Wood and Steve Carell here for example. Both wide-eyed, with a rather pronounced lower lid. I don't know why I'm so drawn to it (heh), but it's always been my favorite type to sketch.

Expect some more with these guys...

In the meantime, here's a shot of me in my super tidy workspace. For a more complete picture, imagine Radiohead's Exit Music (For A Film) in the background. DRAMA.

Lest I fall behind...

I should have known better than to challenge Justin Offner!

Venture Bros.!!

Time for another work in progress! I really wanted to draw Hank and Dean this time. A new episode just came in at the studio today and it filled me with the Venture spirit! So here's what I've done so far:

Hooray for sloppy gestures! Look at how off-model Hank is! What a silly-Billy!

Yes, for reasons unbeknownst to even myself, I've chosen a pirate setting. Dean's left arm feels blocky to me, so I'll have to finesse that a bit. But so far I'm having loads of fun. Boat-loads, you might say! (snicker)

More to come!!

Hey guys, it's Sheena!

So, friend Chris George has been posting these awesome development sketches for his character named Sheena, and she was just so durn loveable that I had to draw her. I had to. I'm sorry!

Not sure why I put her in a plaid frock, by the by.

Yellow.

Another work in progress. I'm looking to make a giclee print of this when it's finished. Can anyone recommend a good printer in the New York area?

Plus! Click to behold the wonder of animation!
